PHU QUOC SEA EAGLES
Sea eagle (O, Cat, Ung, Dieu Hau) is any of the birds of prey, belonging to group Accipitriformes or Falconiformes in the subfamily Accipitrina in the family Accipitridae. Their sizes vary from small to medium, and they mainly appear in jungle and sea regions. They hunt preys by flying suddenly downward from their hidding places. A sea eagle normally has a long tail, good eye sight, a large powerful hooked beak and strong muscular legs to catch the preys.
Phu Quoc sea eagles and Phu Quoc dugongs (a special type of fish in Phu Quoc) are the 2 species being threatened to go extinct; very few of them still exist up to now. Thus, they are being protected strictly according to the Red standard of National parks.
At very first days, there were only 2 sea eagles found and preserved at the museum. After years of purchasing and rasing, now the number of sea eagles has increased to groups of ten. All of them are being cared perfectly at Coi Nguon museum.
