PHU QUOC VORTEX DOGS
Long ago in the past, residents in Phu Quoc have considered vortex dogs a very precious gift presented by the generous God. There are many interesting stories about these purebred Vietnamese dogs.
There is a lengend that sea Dragon mated with a young unicorn in the island and then returned to the heaven. The unicorn stayed in the island and gave birth to a type of jungle dog – the ancestors of Phu Quoc vortex dogs. Another theory is that trading boats from Portugal and Netherlands carrying slaves to sell in Asian countries passed by the island, and they exchanged vortex dogs for food and pure water from Phu Quoc residents. A more reliable theory is that the jungle dogs (ancestors of vortex dogs) were caught and raised by fishermen in a long enough time that they gradually turned into the current vortex dogs. Since they live far from the mainland, vortex dogs exist as a tribe living isolatingly from other types of dog. Therefore, they could keep their good genes and avoid being interbred with domestic dogs.
In the Larousse dictionary (in France), Phu Quoc vortex dogs are put into a rare and precious species, one of the most intelligent dogs in the world. Their fur are not longer than 2cm but very smooth and close to their bodies. Most of them have nails and pieces of skin among their toes like ducks’. Experts in vortex dogs loves those with deep eyes, pointing whiskers and flat mouths. Particularly, the bodies of vortex dogs are very muscular with strong big breasts and small stomachs. Different from Becgie and Thai vortex dogs, Phu Quoc vortex dogs still maintain their wild lives with certain activities such as climbing, hunting preys in the jungles or under water, digging caves to live, to bear and to grow their children.
