Phu Quoc (Pearl island) is the largest island in Vietnam and the largest one among 22 islet in the Gulf of Thailand. The total area of this island district is 593,05km square (approximately equal to the area of Singapore). Located in the northwest, Duong Dong township is the capital of the island. Phu Quoc is 120km away from Rach Gia city and is 45km far from Ha Tien town.

In Phu Quoc sea, there are 22 islets; among these, Phu Quoc is the largest (574km square ~ 56,200 ha). Phu Quoc island spreads 50km north to south; its largest part (in the north) is 25km wide. The highest part in the island is Chua mountain (603m). Phu Quoc is built up with a roughly shape and a mountainous ridge of 99 peaks. The seas surrounding Phu Quoc are no more than 10m deep. However, the group of islands in An Thoi seaport is separated from the southern head of Phu Quoc island by a channel of 60m deep.
