Fishery in Phu Quoc plays an important role in residents' lives due to its rich fishing grounds offshore.

The island is not much influenced by hurricanes in the South China Sea thanks to its location – belonging to the Gulf of Thailand. Consequently, fishery in Phu Quoc has becoming more and more developed to respond to the daily need and markets' demands. Since fishery brings in much profits, the production climbs up greatly, which leads to the fish sauce manufacturing industry.
