THE ARTIFICIAL SHOPPING PLOT
Pearl larvae are grown in tanks in approximately 1 month until they become pearl mussels. The job continues by putting rocks or similar objects into the tanks for the larvae to attach in; finding an ideal place at the beach to drop the larvae is carried out at the same time. Pearl mussels will stay in the tanks until their sizes reach 2-5mm; then they are brought to the ocean to be grown in nets. During their growing time, basing on their sizes, pearls will be put in different-sized nets, so that it would be easier for them to get enough food and obtain good habitats. When the sizes of these pearls reach 150mm – 180mm lengthwise, they are ready to be nucleated.
An artificial pearl normally have a beautifully round shape, and its color is determined by the type of species and the water environment at its growing place.
